GORDON WEAVER founded The Mississippi Review at the University of Southern Mississippi in 1972. His short fiction and novels have been widely published and he has edited many critical books.
"From a master storyteller whose characters' voices are often colorful, rough, and colloquial, comes this surprising chapbook of poems, each poem a dark flower blooming from a rigorous rhyme scheme and often, as well, from the sestina form. Here is a whole new aspect to Weaver's oeuvre: a voice that is formal, intimate, stoic in its witnessing of endings that accrue with the passage of time, and unabashedly elegant." -Leslie Ullman
