Shearer Publishing

 Shearer Publishing, a Texas regional publisher founded by Bill and Kathy Shearer, had its humble beginnings in their garage in Bryan, Texas in 1982. Through the years, Shearer Publishing has been proud to publish esteemed authors such as Leon Hale, Gordon Baxter, Elithe Hamilton Kirkland, Tony Valone of Tony's Restaurant in Houston, books with the Texas Country Reporter and The Eyes of Texas television shows, herbalists Madalene Hill and Gwen Barclay, naturalists John Tveten and Geyata Ajilvsgi, a Happy Meal promotion for McDonald's using the Story of Texas, and our series of state road atlases.

Now located in Fredericksburg, Texas, Shearer Publishing is a "boutique" publisher, and specializes in corporate publishing. We are most particular about what we publish, and by having such a small list, are able to work very hard to see that each book is of the highest quality and receives a great deal of promotion.

Texas on the Plate was a finalist for the Benjamin Franklin Award, garnered an award from the Gold Ink Awards for printing quality and design, and was a finalist for the Independent Publishers Award. We won an IACP Crystal Whisk Award in 2005 for Fonda San Miguel: Thirty Years of Food and Art, as well as an IPPY Award. In 2010, we were a finalist for the Benjamin Franklin Award in addition to the IPPY Cookbook Award for Don Strange of Texas: His Life and Recipes. A Family Farm in Tuscany received numerous awards. We have won national awards for books produced in association with Classique Library, translating and redesigning Mercedes-Benz subject books for the US and other English-speaking markets.

Our mission is to produce books that sell and are of the finest quality possible, with great design and proper editorial content. We also strive to provide authors/contributors and staff with utmost honesty and respect.
